Infographic Covid-19:when will we return to normal daily life?

Recently, more than 500 epidemiologists and infectious disease experts were questioned across the Atlantic on the following question:when will we be able to experience a daily life similar to that of before the Covid-19 pandemic? In reality, it all depends on what kind of activity we are talking about. One thing is certain, everything will gradually return to normal.

Twenty activities

The Covid-19 pandemic has turned our lives upside down, between barrier measures and containment. And the recent deconfinement raises the threat of a possible second wave . However, a question remains in the background:when will we be able to return to normal life? An article published by the New York Times June 8, 2020 featured interviews with 511 epidemiologists and infectious disease experts in the United States and Canada. Based on the data obtained by these specialists, the Visual Capitalist platform developed and then published an infographic a few days later.

This infographic evokes about twenty activities that were a natural part of our daily lives before the pandemic. For each of these activities, the infographic announces a percentage as to a return to normal during this summer, within 3 to 12 months or after more than a year . Let's mention in passing the possibility that certain activities never return to normal!

Flying… Attending a concert…

Let's quote some results visible on the infographic. For example, there is a 64% chance that postmen deliver their mail carelessly from this summer. As for getting a haircut like before, there's a 41% chance it will happen this summer. However, there is a 39% chance that this will only be possible within 3 to 12 months and a 19% chance that it will take more than a year. As far as air travel is concerned, a return to normal as early as this summer is quite unlikely (20%). This would be more likely to happen within 3 to 12 months (44%) or even after a year (37%).

What about hugging or shaking someone's hand? Again, a return to normal this summer is almost unthinkable (14%). You will probably have to wait between 3 and 12 months (39%) or more than a year (42%). Let's mention the fact that there is still a 5% chance that this never returns to normal . Finally, let’s talk about attending a concert or a sporting event. A return to normal this summer is almost impossible. You will have to wait at least 3 to 12 months (32%) with a good chance that this wait will exceed a year (64%).
