USA:Almost all baby food contains heavy metals!

A recent study conducted in the United States reveals that an overwhelming majority of baby foods contain heavy metals. Among these substances we find lead, mercury, arsenic or cadmium.

Pervasive heavy metals

Healthy Babies Bright Future (HBBF) is an alliance of non-profit organizations, scientists and donors. Together, they set up programs intended to significantly reduce the exposure of babies to harmful products during the first 1000 days of development. However, HBBF published a study on October 31, 2019, the results of which make one shudder. On 168 foods analyzed , most of them contained heavy metals!

Specifically, 95% of them contained lead , 75% cadmium, 73% arsenic and 32% mercury! Let us mention in passing the fact that the selected products are produced by major brands, but also by small American producers. In addition, it should also be remembered that HBBF relied on another study, this time published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in August 2019.

The worst:rice foods

It seems that rice foods are the most harmful for children. Indeed, the study evokes the presence of inorganic arsenic, that is to say the most toxic form of arsenic . Moreover, these products are constantly contaminated by the various metals mentioned above.

USA:Almost all baby food contains heavy metals!

The fact that rice products are most affected is no coincidence. Indeed, this cereal growing directly in water Effectively absorbs naturally occurring arsenic in inorganic form. It therefore seems logical to find arsenic in small doses in our daily diet. However, babies are not armed like adults to effectively remove this substance.

If you cook the rice directly at home, it is better to prefer white rice . Although it is rather poor in nutrients, arsenic is nevertheless much less present. Other less purified rices are not so lucky:the outer layers of the grain readily welcome arsenic. In addition, you might as well vary the baby's cereal intake by serving him products made from wheat, oats, barley and why not based on quinoa.
