What are the benefits of CBD?

The virtues of cannabidiol, a cannabinoid present in cannabis, are numerous and accessible to everyone (a completely legal substance). Indeed, its many medical properties are interesting for treating stress and anxiety but also certain pathologies. At present, its use is already common across the world, but ongoing scientific and clinical studies may well further increase its use and popularity.

What is CBD? What are its virtues?

cannabidiol (known as CBD) is one of more than 113 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in Cannabis sativa, the cannabis or hemp plant. CBD and THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) are the two main active compounds in the plant. They are also therefore the most recognized and studied.

CBD is an extremely lipophilic bicyclic phytocannabinoid. It is a powerful natural chemical compound that plays an important role in treating various pathologies. You should know that this cannabinoid does not cause psychoactive side effects, as THC could.

The pharmacological effects of CBD have been tested for more than 40 years and research is accelerating more and more around this molecule. Numerous studies have found that Cannabidiol can help fight cancer and irritable bowel disease, improve symptoms of schizophrenia, and may even relieve anxiety and help you sleep more. CBD can also be used to calm all kinds of pain:chronic, acute, neuropathic, as well as those related to certain diseases, such as arthritis or fibromyalgia.

The impacts of CBD consumption

So far, no harmful impact has been noted following the consumption of CBD, and the feeling of relaxation it provides does not imply a psychotropic effect. In fact, the component is very well tolerated by the human body, which assimilates its effect through two main cannabinoid receptors:on the one hand CB1, present in bones, muscles, adipose tissue, skin and joints, concentrating in the nervous system, and more specifically in memory, emotions and the sensation of pain. Then there is CB2, a receptor linked to the spleen and more specifically to immune cells.

In addition, CBD has several terpenes (natural hydrocarbons) with significant virtues. Myrcene, for example, is used as an antispasmodic, bactericide, sedative and anxiolytic. Or limonene, used as an antiseptic, muscle relaxant and antitumor. Then finally comes linalool, which serves as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, sedative or even antifungal.

How to consume CBD? In what form(s)?

There are different forms of CBD consumption:vaporization (by air), ingestion (orally) and dermal application (external). As a result, there are many derivative products such as, for example, CBD oil, creams, capsules, tea...

To conclude

At present, this molecule continues to convince more and more people around the world, especially because its use has no harmful side effects. Indeed, many individuals are seduced every day by the benefits and multiple possibilities of consumption of cannabidiol. Of course, like any phytotherapy product, CBD should be used in moderation and above all, medical advice is strongly recommended before substituting it for a conventional treatment.

And you, what do you think? Do you consume CBD? What is your experience?
