The corona mouth cap is now the most important daily accessory. It is always there and, to be effective, must also be handled hygienically correctly. However, many people do not know how to properly maintain or clean the mouth and nose protection, nor how best to transport the mouth cap. Proper cleaning and wear time
Disposable medical and FFP masks should always be thrown away after use. Especially if the mask has become damp from wearing it, it must be replaced, because otherwise viruses and bacteria spread more quickly on it. Cloth face masks can be washed in the washing machine at a minimum of 60 degrees, ideally 90-95 degrees, with a heavy wash detergent. Fabric mouth and nose guards should be washed after each use, unless the fabric disinfects itself. Cleaning in the oven, with the iron and especially in the microwave should be avoided! As a result, the mask breaks or can even catch fire in the case of microwave cleaning.
Correct storage and proper donning and doffing
The mask should always be worn completely on the face or removed completely. Before and after donning, hands should be thoroughly disinfected or washed for 20 to 30 seconds. This prevents contact with viruses and bacteria during setup. An airtight container, for example a freezer bag with a zipper, is ideal for hygienically storing a face mask. There the worn reusable mouth cap can be transported safely. Experts advise against unprotected transport in the jacket pocket or dangling freely from the wrist.
It is important and decisive that the mouth cap worn does not come into direct contact with other objects, so that viruses and bacteria do not have a chance to spread. And proper disposal of disposable face masks must also be taken into account so that they don't end up on the roadside or get stuffed into the pockets.
