boxing for women; shall i or shall i not?

I've actually doubted it for a number of years, boxing. And whether that 'should' be boxing specifically for women or boxing in general, I'm not quite sure yet. I thought… let me write a blog about it, maybe that will be my last 'push' for me.

Boxing for women, or kickboxing?

First of all, I have some doubts about boxing or kickboxing, whether it's for women or not. Despite all the similarities, there is an obvious difference, in kickboxing you also use your feet to deal out kicks. Although I like that in itself, I'm not sure if it's useful for my knee. You know, those knee ligaments that finally tore off during winter sports. That, and the tear in my meniscus, is holding me back a bit and tends to lean towards women's boxing.

While this year with winter sports it turned out that the skiing itself is going well (albeit with a brace), which makes me think carefully about running again. Maybe building up slowly is an option, as long as I do it with a brace.

Anyway, because I've been thinking about boxing for years and I know a number of women who have done that and are very positive about it, it's starting to itch again. Would I then? But actually I hate sports, how would that be with boxing?

Is boxing really a women's sport?

Let's face it… being completely rammed in, I'm not looking forward to that, haha. My preference is actually specifically for boxing (or kickboxing) because it is so incredibly good for your stamina. I think it makes you really fit. But it also seems grueling to me.

Not that the latter matters of course. I might as well join the rest of my family. Frank and the children are all on Krav Maga and regularly come home completely exhausted. But nothing that some protein-rich bars or vegan protein powder can't compete with. Challenge yourself and recover, that's the principle in my opinion.

Somehow I think boxing for women is very cool. Suits me as a biker girl, doesn't it? But hey, I'm also 46 now, isn't that too old to start boxing, even if it's with women? Can't I just stick to my walks?

Boxing is good for clearing your head I read. Well, I could use some of that, especially after the last few years. In addition, it strengthens your self-confidence (always good) and I seriously hope that it will do something to my body. Furthermore, boxing for women also requires them to use their technique and is not just a matter of strength. Although it does make you stronger in the end, and I don't think that's wrong either.

Totally broke during the lesson

That's a bit what I'm still afraid of, that it will break completely. Go all the way. Can I? Am I not too lazy for that? Isn't it better for me to exercise at home? I hope the adrenaline gets to me and does something to me. But as I wrote before… I think I miss that fabric.
