2. Carving/painting pumpkins

Well, it's part and parcel of it… Carving and decorating pumpkins! If you want to do something creative with your kids, you can hollow out pumpkins together and carve faces in them. Are your children just a little too small to cut themselves? Then cut out the pumpkins yourself and let your little ones paint the pumpkins – super fun to do and probably less messy!

3. Making Halloween cocktails

Who says mom can't have fun on Halloween? If you spend Halloween without children, you can make delicious Halloween-like cocktails with your friends. Have fun with your kids? Then make mocktails that your little ones will also love. Some nice decorations such as Halloween straws and other decorations and you have a delicious Halloween drink on the table!

4. Host a candy tasting

No Halloween without candy! How nice is it to have a candy tasting with your family? Choose some fun and different kinds of candies and go and taste candies together. Let your kids play the judges and decide what numbers the candies get – bet they're going to enjoy this?

5. Having a Halloween Movie Marathon

There's nothing like a Halloween movie marathon! Are your little ones scared quite easily? Then go for cozy family films to keep the atmosphere good. Do they actually like to be creeped out? Then choose some traditional Halloween movies for an exciting evening… Add some Halloween snacks and you are good to go!

6. Going to the cinema

Don't have any Halloween-themed movies at home or just want to do something completely different for Halloween? For example, go to the cinema. You can of course choose to watch an exciting movie with extra effect from the speakers in the cinema, or just choose a fun movie that will make your little ones happy. Popcorn at the ready!

7. Reading a horror book

Of course you don't need movies to create an exciting atmosphere. How about a spooky horror story…? Light some candles, sit together under some blankets with a cup of hot chocolate and read an exciting horror book. Are you an expert at making up stories yourself? Then you can of course just tell a spooky story and use your own imagination! Or let your children come up with it… Exciting and fun at the same time!

8. Making s'mores

A typical Halloween treat is the s'more:a roasted marshmellow. Toast them with your children over some candles or – if your children are not that old or a bit clumsy – make them in advance in the oven and enjoy this delicacy while you watch a movie or read a book.

9. Handing out sweets

Just because you don't go door-to-door with your family doesn't mean you can't get trick-or-treaters at your door. So make sure you also have some candy at home that you can hand out. Also super fun to do with your children and then discuss the most beautiful costumes with each other.

10. Organizing a game night

Not in the mood for movies or books? Then organize a fun game night! You can play simple board games, but of course you can also create your own exciting treasure hunt or play hide and seek in the dark. After all, we have to stay a bit in theme, don't you think?

11. Holding a costume fashion show

Just because you don't go trick-or-treating doesn't mean you can't have a costume party! Let your kids put on their costumes and organize a Halloween fashion show in the living room! Turn on some scary music, make them dance and parade in their outfits and don't forget to take a lot of pictures!
