Here's what you need to know before taking a pregnancy test

Here s what you need to know before taking a pregnancy test

Taking a pregnancy test remains an exciting moment. You should know this before you take the test.

1. The price of the test does not matter much
You don't necessarily have to pay the top prize for your test. The cheaper tests show by means of well-known lines whether you are pregnant or not. More expensive tests may present it a bit nicer, but do you want to pay extra for that? When does it make sense to pay extra? If you would like to know immediately how long you have been pregnant. Of course you can also just wait until your visit to the doctor.

2. When you take the test, it does matter
It is best to take a pregnancy test in the morning. The HCG level in your urine is then the highest. Your pregnancy can therefore be detected earlier by the test.

3. The result of the test is almost always correct, but not always
In general, pregnancy tests are very reliable, but false results are possible. A test may indicate that you are not pregnant, when you are. This can happen if your pregnancy is still very early, so that there is little HCG in your urine. A test may also have been performed incorrectly.

A false positive test is much less common. It can occur if you have HCG in your urine, for example from medication or drug use. You are also more likely to get a false positive test with fertility treatment. It is also possible that an egg has been fertilized, but that the pregnancy has ended again.

4. A pregnancy test can become overdue
Very handy that there is still a pregnancy test lying around in your bathroom drawer. Check the best-before date just to be sure, it's on it for a reason.
