You don t want to make these 4 mistakes when taking supplements

Of course, taking supplements is an easy way of getting vitamins and other foods, but do you actually know what your body needs exactly? And are you not taking too much? Below you can read a number of mistakes that you should avoid when taking supplements.

1. Forgot to consult with your doctor

Maybe you think you can use certain supplements to get your body on its way. But be careful with which supplements you take. Your medication can be affected by certain supplements. Or maybe your body needs completely different aids… So consult your doctor or specialist before you decide to take certain supplements.

2. Supplementing a poor diet

We've all had a week in which we didn't eat enough fruit or vegetables. But solving this standard by taking supplements makes little sense. Of course you can use supplements to give your body an extra boost, but completely replacing foods with supplements can be very bad for your health. So make sure you eat enough fruit and vegetables, watch your diet and supplement where necessary by taking the right supplements.

3. Taking too much

More is not necessarily better. Often people think that if one pill is good for you, two is probably even better for you. But taking too many of the same supplements or combining multiple supplements can upset your body. In addition, there is a greater chance that you will get unwanted side effects if you take more supplements. Do you have any of those supplements that disguise themselves as tasty candies? And do you find that it is easy to take too much of them because they are sometimes irresistible? Then switch to a supplement in pill form and only take the recommended dose. Your body will thank you.

4. Do not pay attention to the best before date

Did you know that supplements can run out of date? They certainly can. So be careful with that jar of vitamin C tablets that have been in your bathroom cabinet behind all your bottles of perfume for years. Supplements also do not tolerate very hot or very cold rooms and should ideally be kept cool and dry for optimal effect. So here's a hint to clear out your kitchen or bathroom cabinets and pay close attention to the expiration date of your supplements before taking them!
