New campaign against deadly disease ALS

New campaign against deadly disease ALS

In the new campaign of the ALS Netherlands Foundation this time, it is not the patients themselves who tell their story, but the relatives. 'No time to lose' kicks off March 2 to raise money for research into this deadly disease.

“No time to lose” refers, among other things, to the limited time patients have with family and loved ones once the diagnosis has been made.

Little time

For example, Marianne van den Eijnden tells that her son Nicky will be 33 years old when he dies of ALS. He leaves behind two small children. Marjan and the ALS Netherlands Foundation think it is high time for this new campaign. Ten years after the high-profile campaign 'I have died' put the disease ALS definitively on the map, the ALS Foundation Netherlands is once again opting for a penetrating approach to draw attention to this still deadly disease.

Research

Because the title of the campaign also refers to the time needed for research into the cause and a medicine.

“The clock is ticking”, says ALS Netherlands Foundation director Gorrit-Jan Blonk. “With the cancellation of our fundraising events last year, revenues have fallen by 50%. Scientific research is essential and for that we depend on donations. We want to save as many lives as possible, the sooner we have a medicine the better.”

The ALS Netherlands Foundation not only invests in research, but also in a better quality of life for patients and their loved ones. Time is also an important factor here. ALS professionals must be able to switch quickly to provide the right care and support within the limited time that remains.

Special Coin

To power the campaign and raise additional funds, a unique IF coin will be minted on March 28. This is the day that daylight saving time starts and everyone loses an hour of their time. The ALS Netherlands Foundation works together with the Royal Dutch Mint. The coin with a special design is now for sale on pre-registration via   https://knm.nl/ALS. Only 5,000 pieces of the coin will be made. It is a unique opportunity for collectors and people who care about Stichting ALS Nederland to acquire an exclusive collector's item.
