This will make your cold even worse

It seems like there is no end to your cold. What is that about? Maybe you are unconsciously doing these things that make your cold even worse?

You remain too fanatical with sports

Are you a fanatic athlete? Perhaps it is better if you show a little less effort during a cold. Do not go all the way, but exercise at a leisurely pace. However, if you suffer from a fever, cough or if your stomach is upset, skip the exercise until you are cured.

Drink enough

When you are sick, it is important to be well hydrated. Several studies have shown that proper hydration can help infections heal faster. It is especially important to drink clear drinks such as water and tea. Drinks that are not, such as milk, for example, cause your glands to become swollen.

Warm drinks are especially helpful. These ensure that excess mucus disappears and that there is more space in your nasal passages.

Get enough sleep

Sleep repairs your body. If you sleep too little, it affects your resistance, so that you have a cold longer than necessary. But yes, what if you suffer from coughing fits at night? Make sure you drink enough and steam before going to bed. This keeps your airways moist. Ask your chemist/pharmacist about a good cough medicine.

Getting enough sleep is very important to prevent a cold. Research shows that people who sleep less than five hours a night are three times more likely to catch a cold than those who sleep seven hours a night.

Alcohol

You sometimes hear that alcohol makes the bacteria in your body disappear, but nothing could be further from the truth. If you have a cold, it is better to avoid alcoholic drinks. Alcohol causes your resistance to be affected and that you become dehydrated, while with a cold it is important to stay hydrated. Alcohol takes even longer to recover.

Stress

Stress and a cold are a bad combination. A little stress is okay, but if you really suffer from chronic stress, your immune system has to work harder, and therefore it becomes difficult for your immune system to also fight your cold. So try to take it easy.
