4 tips against tired eyes

Staring at a computer screen all day isn't good for your eyes. You can do a number of things to prevent or reduce tired eyes and other complaints.

Research by The Vision Council shows that 70 percent of people born between 1982 and 2001 suffer from eyestrain. The symptoms may include blurred vision, red eyes, dry eyes, watery eyes or headache. Avoiding screens is difficult for many people, but the following tips can help you relax your eyes as much as possible.

1. Give your tired eyes a regular rest

Rest as often as you can. Do you sit in front of the computer all day at work? Then try not to stare at a screen for hours again in the evening.

2. Use the 20-20-20 rule

The 20-20-20 rule is a good trick for eyestrain:every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away (about 6 meters) for 20 seconds. Closing your eyes for 20 seconds every half hour is also a good way to give your eyes a regular rest.

3. Have your eyes tested at the optician

If you suffer from tired eyes, blurred vision or other complaints, have your eyes measured at the optician. Perhaps your complaints can be easily remedied with glasses.

4. Adjust the brightness of your screen

Make sure that your eyes don't have to strain as much as possible. Adjust the brightness if necessary. The f.lux app automatically adjusts the brightness depending on your location and time of day.
