Do you have a concave or a convex belly button?

A belly button is actually little more than a scar left on the umbilical cord from time in your mother's tummy. What does yours look like?

Just as the shape of your toes can differ from that of your partner, mother, sister or brother, everyone has a different belly button. Yet one of the two 'types' – concave or convex – is clearly the most common.

Dimple

Chances are you have a hollow belly button. So a dimple. The vast majority of people have this. And only a very small part has a convex belly button, one that sticks out a bit. By the way, it is a sandwich monkey story that is caused concave or convex by the way in which the umbilical cord was cut as a baby. This has no effect. It is not known why a small part of people have a convex navel. Doctors dare to draw few conclusions, apart from 'simply an anatomical variation'. Just like a bump on your nose or a bigger ear for example.

Erogenous zone

Oo-la-la. Did you know that your belly button and clitoris grew out of the same tissue? If you (or someone else…) touches your belly button, you can feel it in your genitals. For many women, the navel is an erogenous zone. Some women have it pierced, also with a view to more stimulation in that area. Piercing a convex navel is a lot more difficult than piercing a hollow one.
