Persevere:that's how you do it

Persevere:that s how you do it

Why does your girlfriend manage to eat healthy, while you go wrong after a few days? Everyone sometimes goes wrong, but with these tips you can keep it up too.

1. Formulate your goals positively

You can formulate goals in different ways:'to eat less sweets' and 'eat healthier' can in fact be the same goal. Still, it is better to formulate your goals positively. You learn faster from the things you do (prepare healthier meals) than from the things you don't (don't try to eat sweets anymore).

2. Provide intermediate steps

It is not realistic to go from sitting on the couch every night to exercising every night. Maybe your goals are not realistic. Dare to admit it and adjust your goals. Start exercising once or twice a week and build it up slowly. In this way it is easier to maintain and it gives you a good feeling when you have achieved an intermediate goal.

3. Try not to be tempted

The more times you are tempted, the more likely you will eventually give in. Therefore, try to adapt your environment to your goal where possible. Do you want to check your e-mail less often? Then close your mailbox at work for a few hours and remove the app from your phone.

4. Forgive yourself

We are often harder on ourselves than we are on others. How often do we forgive others for their mistakes? Also be a little more gentle with yourself. A mistake is easily made, but that doesn't mean you can give up afterwards. You may have missed sports, ate too many sweets, didn't work on your home study. Ask yourself what went wrong, see it as a learning moment and pick up the thread again.
