Can you have heavy bones?

Are heavy bones a (weak) excuse?

Too bad, you can no longer use this excuse. It is a myth that obesity is caused by overweight bones. Bones don't really weigh much at all. Compared to the weight of muscle, fat and tissue, they are even light.

Your skeleton may be wider and you may have heavier bones than someone else your size. This has to do with your DNA, but also with the amount of vitamins and minerals you take in and how active you are. It may just be that a heavier person also has heavier bones, but that is not necessary. The difference with someone with lighter bones is usually a maximum of two to four kilos.
