Research

Research at Radboudumc among 32,748 women between the ages of 15 and 45 shows that menstruation has a significant influence on a woman's functioning. More than 80 percent of those surveyed say they can do an average of 23 days a year less work because of their menstrual period. The researchers assume a productivity loss of 33 percent, which comes out to about nine days, according to Nu.nl.

Taboo

Women under the age of 21 are more likely to stay at home during their periods. Only 20 percent dare to say why they are absent. Even though we live in the 21 e century, it remains  according to the researchers a taboo subject.
