When do you take the pill when you travel to a country with a time difference?

If you're going on a long journey, you're probably dealing with a time difference. Can you just keep taking the pill while on holiday at the time you are used to?

Less than 3 hours time difference
Going to a country where the time difference is less than 3 hours? Then you can just take the pill at the same time as at home.

More than 3 hours time difference
A time difference of more than 3 hours may require more planning. Try to make sure there are 24 hours between two pills. If that moment falls in the middle of the night, choose the time that comes as close to 24 hours as possible.

Does the flight take longer than 24 hours?
Swallow the pill on the way according to Dutch time.

Prefer less time between two pills
If you fly west, your day will be longer. It is better to take two pills. One at the Dutch time and one at the same time at your holiday destination. It is better to leave less than 24 hours between two pills than more than 24 hours.

Keep your habit Do you always take your pill in the morning at home? Try to do the same while on vacation. By keeping to your routine from home, you reduce the chance that you will forget to take the pill.

If in doubt, ask for advice
Are you unsure about taking the pill during your trip? Ask your pharmacist for advice. Do you use other medicines? Also ask for advice. It is better to take an extra pill with the pill, but with some medicines it is better to skip a dose.
