Intestinal flora in balance

More and more is known about the intestinal flora and what it can do to you if your intestinal flora is out of balance.

Your intestinal flora consists of different bacteria (microbes) and especially the good bacteria are important. With this food you help your body to keep the intestinal flora in balance:

1. Eat probiotic
Such as yogurt and unpasteurized cheese. These are packed with good bacteria and fungi.

2. Eat olive oils, nuts and seeds
A perfect growth medium for good microbes.

3. Eat fermented foods Examples include sauerkraut, tempeh, sourdough bread, miso and chutney (fruit puree). Fermentation creates chemical changes, making your food more digestible for your intestines. This has a beneficial effect on your resistance. This way you can ferment yourself.

4. Eat beans and whole grains
Full of fiber, proteins, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that will put your gut on edge.

5. Make kefir
Kefir looks like yogurt, but it isn't. The white granules consist of bacteria and yeasts. With the grains you can easily make kefir yourself. Kefir is very healthy. For example, you can use it at breakfast, as a dessert or in a smoothie. More about kefir.
