What are calories anyway?

What are calories anyway?

Well, good question.

A calorie is a unit of measure for the amount of energy. The amount of energy in food is calculated in kilocalories (kcal). 1 kcal is 1000 calories. Calories are the fuel for our body. Too much energy is stored as a fat reserve, too little energy makes you too skinny. Confusingly, we often talk about calories when we mean kilocalories.
