Why you shouldn t eat the chocolate dot in your ice cream cone

Do you always look forward to the last bite of your ice cream cone? We secretly like that chocolate point the best, but apparently it's better not to eat it.

Scientist Bert Weckhuysen stated in a lecture at the University of Utrecht that the tip is unhealthier than the rest of the ice.

This is because the chocolate dot must not melt. To ensure that chocolate does not melt, the composition of the fats in the chocolate is adjusted. Catalysts convert unsaturated fats into saturated fats, but trans fats are also created in the same process. Healthy fats actually turn into unhealthy fats.

So… Will you throw the tip away from now on, or will you still enjoy it just as much now that you know? In any case, we will not let that stop us.

Cornetto's response
Unilever responded to the lecture, as their brand Cornetto was mentioned during the lecture. They indicate that the reasoning about trans fats is correct, but that it does not apply to the real Cornetto from Ola. No trans fats are produced during the production of Cornetto.
