As annoying as sweating can be, it is important for your body. Not being able to sweat is even a serious condition.

Sweating has three functions
Sweating has three important functions:it ensures that waste products are expelled from your body, it maintains your body temperature, it keeps your skin clean.

We have millions of sweat glands
We have about 2 to 4 million sweat glands. In an extreme case, your sweat glands could produce as much as 12 liters of sweat in 24 hours. The highest concentration of sweat glands can be found in your feet.

Sweating is sometimes between your ears
You don't just sweat during physical exertion. Emotions, nausea or being sick also make you sweat. Even thinking about sweating can make you sweat more.

Men sweat more than women
Women have more sweat glands, but men's are a lot more active and produce about 40 percent more sweat.

Sometimes you only start to sweat after the effort
Sometimes it seems like you only start to sweat when the effort is almost over. It doesn't just seem that way, it is. Your body sometimes needs a moment to recognize that it is getting too hot.

Not being able to sweat is a serious condition
It is rare, but it occurs:few or no sweat glands. It's serious if you can't sweat, because it quickly overheats your body.
