Get rid of holiday kilos

42 percent of Dutch people gain about 2 to 3 kilograms on holiday. Have you lost your holiday kilos yet? With these tips you can tackle those extra kilos.

Glass of water
It is difficult to distinguish between hunger and thirst. Are you in the mood for a snack? Then drink a glass of water first, maybe your appetite has disappeared after that. Also drink a glass of water before eating. That way, you are less likely to eat too much.

Conscious with groceries You can't eat what you don't have at home. Put as few unhealthy snacks in your shopping cart as possible. Instead, opt for healthy snacks. Don't go grocery shopping on a full stomach. You buy more food when you are hungry.

Carbohydrates
A tip from Atkins dietician Erica Slof:'Make a distinction between good and bad carbohydrates. This is relatively easy. Bad carbohydrates are mainly found in refined foods such as sugar and products with white flour. Think white bread, soft drinks and pasta. The good carbohydrates can be found in leafy vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts and unprocessed whole grain products.'

Less alcohol
In the summer months it was difficult to refuse all those delicious alcoholic drinks. In order to lose the holiday kilos, it is necessary to discount them more often.

Enough movement
During the holidays, sports slow down. Didn't you pick it up after that? Do it right away. Is the gym not for you? Travel by bike as much as possible, park your car a little further away. That, in combination with a brisk half-hour walk every evening, makes a big difference.

Don't skip
Keep eating enough. Have three filling meals a day and have a healthy snack regularly. This will prevent you from starting to sniff. That way you make sure you get enough and that you don't start sniffing.

Patience is a virtue
It may take a while before you see results. Kilos generally fly off easily. In any case, you will have a beautiful summer to remember.
