Also dead in the Netherlands by Diane-35

At the end of last week it was announced that there will be a European investigation into the Diane-35 pill. It is being investigated whether the effectiveness and the risks of the pill are in balance.

Off the French shelves
In France, the pill was taken off the shelves two weeks ago, after four women have died in the past 25 years from blood clots after taking this pill. Yesterday it came out that at the beginning of this year a woman also died in the Netherlands who used Diane-35.

Thrombosis The Dutch deceased woman was young adult and healthy. Thrombosis can occur when using the contraceptive pill. It rarely happens, but when it does it's awful.

Risk
The spokesperson for Diane-35 indicates that a woman who takes a combination pill or Diane-35 has a greater chance of getting thrombosis compared to a woman who does not take the pill, you can also read this in the package leaflet. During pregnancy, the risk of thrombosis is higher and thrombosis also occurs without the use of the pill.

Advice
The MEB assesses and monitors the efficacy, risks and quality of medicines. for the time being, they advise Diane-35 users not to stop taking the pill. If you are concerned, it is best to contact your doctor.
