Prevent office ailments

A stiff back and neck, a mouse arm, and last week the office knee also made the news. How do you avoid these office ailments?

A good workplace
The first step in preventing ailments is a good workplace. Make sure that your desk and office chair are properly adjusted, that your screen is at the right height and that your workplace is spacious and light enough. Use a footstool if your legs are not at a 90-degree angle when you sit on your chair. Do you feel that your workplace is not quite right? Inquire at work whether someone can come by to set up your desk properly.

Move
Use different moments to take a short break. Going to the toilet, getting coffee, these are all moments when you can move. Very important if you spend hours a day in front of a computer screen. Also, take a moment to distract yourself during lunch. Even better:take a walk outside during your lunch break.

Special tools
Do you increasingly suffer from the symptoms of a mouse arm? There are plenty of resources. For example, instead of a mouse, use a tablet with a pen.

Physiotherapy
Sometimes complaints are caused by a wrong (work) attitude that you have used yourself. A physiotherapist can help you, for example by giving you exercises that contribute to good posture.

The first complaints
Be alert yourself. Do not continue walking around with complaints and take a critical look at your workplace at the first complaints.
