Cardiovascular disease in women

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women? Even one in three women dies from this. Time for more research and attention on this disease.

Only 34 percent of Dutch people between the ages of 40 and 75 know that most women die from cardiovascular disease † More than half still think that cancer is the number one cause of death is among women. This is apparent from the research carried out by TNS NIPO on behalf of the Heart Foundation.

Notable: a large proportion of women (59 percent) do think that cardiovascular disease is the most important health problem in men. Despite that cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in women, scientific research so far has mainly focused on men. In order to draw attention to cardiovascular diseases among women, the Heart Foundation will start a so-called women's campaign on 12 September † The Heart Foundation also hopes to immediately collect as much money as possible for more research into cardiovascular problems among women.
