Red wine in the fight against breast cancer

Red wine in the fight against breast cancer

Groundbreaking! New academic research shows that resveratrol, the healthy ingredient in red wine, inhibits breast cancer cells in their growth.

American researchers from the Baylor College of Medicine and Italian researchers from the universities of Naples and Calabria were involved in the study, which is published in The FASEB Journal

Resveratrol is a chemical compound that is occurring in the skins of blue grapes † The research team concluded that resveratrol inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells by blocking the growth effect of estrogen. The discovery is very important for the treatment of people with breast cancer, especially when tumors become resistant to hormone therapy

Red wine is not a cure
The researchers and others involved in the study are enthusiastic about the findings, but of course this does not mean that people with breast cancer should start using red wine or resveratrol supplements as a treatment method † It is not yet known exactly how the findings can actually be incorporated into practice.
