News in cancer research :scientists associated with the medical oncology department of the VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam have discovered that both healthy and diseased cells are capable of the drug sunitinib (a cancer-inhibiting substance , often used in kidney cancer and gastrointestinal cancer) in vesicles. Due to this process, the drug loses its effect.
The researchers hope that the treatment of patients with this cancer in an advanced stage can be improved by inhibiting these vesicles † This is reported by De Telegraaf †
