EPD definitively off the track

EPD definitively off the track

The national electronic patient file (EDP) will definitely not take place. The Senate voted against the bill regulating the EPD.

We previously reported that a majority of the Senate did not see anything in the current bill † And now it appears that the bill has actually been definitively rejected following a general vote. No faction in the senate supports the plan to link patient data nationwide. The CDA, which was initially reluctant, also voted against.

Reasons?
The Senate does not find the objectives of the law clear and is concerned about privacy. Minister of Health Edith Schippers (VVD) previously proposed, for example, only including data on medicine use in the electronic patient file † But that adjustment did not convince the members of the Senate.
