Watching TV is unhealthy

Watching too much TV turns out to be just as harmful as, for example, smoking or being overweight. According to Australian research published in The Journal of the American Heart Association .

For the study, the scientists studied 8,800 Australians for six years. It shows that someone who watches television for four or more hours a day has an 80 percent higher risk of heart disease than someone who spends less than two hours a day in front of the TV. Also the risk of other diseases, such as cancer , growing by eleven percent.

According to lead researcher David Dunstan, excessive screen staring is as dangerous as the effect of smoking, unhealthy diet, high cholesterol or being overweight † A sedentary job would also increase the risk of illness, because sitting for a long time is bad for the sugar level and cholesterol, also in healthy people.
