For many people, losing weight involves getting up and falling. Often this is because mistakes are made when weighing to lose weight. These are the 5 most common mistakes made while weighing to lose weight. In which mistakes do you recognize yourself?

Weighing weight and weight

Let me first say that weight does not say everything about the fact that you are losing weight or being healthy. As a nutrition coach (yep, besides being a copywriter I am also a nutrition coach) I often see people who focus entirely on weight. But there is much more. Because according to the guidelines you can be much too heavy, but if these are mainly muscles then you don't have to worry so much. If the weight is due to fat, then it's something else. Only focusing on weight is therefore not useful if you want to lose weight. Of course it is a nice tool and a small stick behind the door.

The 5 most common mistakes when weighing to lose weight

Are you curious about what weight does to you? Then it is useful to weigh yourself in any case. Many people say that little can go wrong when weighing, but nothing could be further from the truth. Find out now what the 5 most common mistakes to lose weight are.

1. Stepping on the scale every day

Are you also one of those people who stands on the scale every day to see how your weight is doing? Do not! There is a good chance that your daily weighing will only discourage you in your weight loss attempt. That has to do with the fact that your weight can fluctuate from day to day, even if you eat healthy every day, exercise, etc. That there are fluctuations in your weight has to do with what you drink, when you drink, maybe you are one day went to the toilet more often than the other day. Perhaps your gut has to process a larger mass and you can immediately see that on the scale.

Tip:weigh yourself once a week, on the same day, without clothing.

2. Weighing on poor ground

A scale is a pretty accurate piece of equipment that can give different results if it's placed on a bad surface. With bad you can think of a soft surface such as carpet or laminate. It is best to simply place the scale on a stone or tile floor.

3. Use a different scale

Perhaps you use multiple scales at home. Or do you alternate the use of the scale at home with that of the gym. Or you think you are going to weigh in with your girlfriend and to your shock you see that you are no less than 2 kilos heavier there. Weighing on different scales is a common mistake. The problem with this is that every scale is calibrated differently. That also explains directly why you weigh more on one scale than on another. So don't do it anymore and only weigh at home.

4. Weighing after getting up or in the evening

Are you one of those people who gets up and runs to the bathroom first to weigh themselves? Error! When you get up, you should drink a glass of water first, so that your metabolism gets started and you wake up well. After that you have to wait another 20 -  30 minutes, because first you will have to get rid of that water again. Only then can you weigh yourself and get an accurate representation of your weight. Evening is not the best time to weigh yourself. That's because you eat and drink different portions of meals during the day and that affects your weight.

The best time to weigh in is in the morning, although before breakfast, but only after you have used the toilet extensively.

5. Weighing during your period

If there's one time when you shouldn't weigh yourself, it's during your period. You will gain weight during your period. That's because your body retains moisture faster. And it can show on the scale. During your period you can suddenly gain 1 – 2 kilos heavier, while this does not have to say anything about your real weight.
