But what exactly is Tiger Balm?

This analgesic ointment has been used by the Chinese elite for hundreds of years.

In our modern society, tiger balm is used to relieve joint pain.

Although the effectiveness of Tiger Balm is disputed by medical professionals, for those who follow holistic and natural methods, this product is a natural way to calm pain and relieve chest cold congestion.

While touted as a natural remedy, Tiger Balm may actually contain petroleum jelly and paraffin.

Here is the natural recipe for making your own balm, using beeswax and coconut oil.

What you need

- Beeswax tablet

- Coconut Oil

- Eucalyptus essential oil

- Peppermint essential oil

- Clove essential oil

- Sage leaves

How to

1. Add about 15g of beeswax and 60g of coconut oil to a small saucepan. You can also use extra virgin olive oil instead of coconut oil.

2. In a larger saucepan, add 2-4 cups of water. Place the small saucepan in the larger one in a bain-marie.

3. Increase the heat to medium heat.

4. Continuously stir the ingredients until they melt. Make sure to stir them constantly so they don't burn.

5. Remove the pan from the heat as soon as the ingredients are melted.

6. Add 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, 10 drops of peppermint essential oil and 5 drops of clove essential oil to the melted wax.

7. Vigorously mix the ingredients until they are homogeneous.

8. Leave to cool for a few minutes.

9. In another saucepan, bring 1 liter of water to a boil and add 1 tablespoon of crushed sage, wintergreen (wintergreen), willow or hawthorn (hawthorn fruit).

10. Boil until the liquid reduces by half.

11. Strain the water to remove the herbs and add 1-2 tablespoons of this infusion into the wax mixture.

12. Heat the wax and infused mixture in the double boiler and stir for several minutes.

13. Pour the hot mixture into a metal or glass container.

14. Place it in a cool, dry place for several hours, until it is completely cooled.

And There you go ! Your homemade all-natural tiger balm is already ready :-)
