4 Good Reasons to Avoid Prepared Meals.

Prepared meals come in handy when you're short on time or motivation to cook. But, they haven't been getting good press lately. We, consumers, doubt and wonder about their benefits. Here are 4 good reasons to avoid them.

1. Their Price

They are not at all economical:for example, compare the price of 20 pancakes from a private label with that of homemade pancakes. The industrial pancakes cost me €9.35 while the (organic) ingredients for the recipe for my homemade pancakes cost me €2.60.

Almost 4 times the price industrial pancakes, and they are much better in taste and for health!

2. A Doubtful Composition

As we have seen on the news, prepared meals contain "surprise" ingredients that are not necessarily to everyone's taste (horse in beef lasagna, coliform bacteria in IKEA pies).

No doubt there are other equally unappetizing components in other prepared dishes.

3. Unhealthy Ingredients

Under the pretext of making prepared meals more attractive, manufacturers add texture agents, flavor enhancers, colorings, salt, fats, sugars, etc. All these additives are bad for your health , especially if we multiply the ingestion of different industrial dishes in the same day. We are then exposed to daily overdoses.

An oil that is often found in these dishes, because it is very economical, is palm oil . Very rich in saturated fatty acids which tend to increase the level of bad cholesterol, it leads to the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Glucose syrups , meanwhile, are really formidable sugars for our health. The body stores them and turns them into fat, causing an increase in cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Not to mention our line.

4. A Lack of Taste

Come on, be honest:do you prefer the taste of a homemade lasagna dish? or that of a dish of ready-made lasagna?

A few days ago, for lack of time, I reheated a dish of frozen industrial lasagna. From the number of bits of bone I had in my mouth, I understood that their minced meat came from crushed carcasses. Frankly, it took my appetite away...

And you, do you eat ready-made meals? How many times per week ? Have you ever had bad surprises? Tell us in the comments.
